On November 7th, H.E. Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to China, led a UAE delegation to SJTU where they were welcomed by Party Secretary Zhenbin Yang. Vice President Weidong Liu and heads of relevant university offices joined the meeting.
Zhenbin Yang extended a warm welcome to the ambassador and his party, recalling the rich harvest of cooperation achieved in recent years. He noted that SJTU has joined hands with Emirati universities and government agencies to reach a series of agreements on student recruitment, joint research and short-term programmes, and that bilateral exchanges are gaining momentum. Looking ahead, he expressed hope that both sides will explore new models for joint talent-cultivation and further deepen collaboration in scientific research and faculty mobility.
H.E. Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi said education and research are the golden keys to the future. Taking this meeting as a springboard, he looked forward to closer cooperation in student training, welcomed more Chinese teachers and students to the UAE, and expressed his wish that outstanding Emirati students will study in China, using academic ties as a bridge to enhance friendship between the two nations.
In the ensuing discussions the two sides held in-depth talks on student cultivation and research exchange.
Representatives from the Office of International Cooperation & Exchange and the Puyuan Future Technology College attended the meeting. Afterward, the Emirati guests visited the Puyuan Future Technology College for a tour and round-table discussion, during which both parties explored joint responses to global challenges, the establishment of a standing cooperation hub, and the promotion of mobility and integration of young academic talent from both countries.
