On the afternoon of October 9, Loh Tuck Keat, Consul-General of the Republic of Singapore in Shanghai, visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). President Ding Kuiling met the delegation on the Minhang Campus. Deputy Consul-General Isaac Chan attended. SJTU Vice President Liu Weidong also joined the meeting.
President Ding welcomed the guests. He noted that this year marks the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore as well as the 60th anniversary of Singapore’s founding. He highlighted the long-standing history of cooperation between SJTU and Singaporean universities and emphasized that, with the joint support of the two countries’ Ministers of Education last year, the partnership achieved breakthrough progress. Ding introduced SJTU’s recent strategic priorities and expressed the hope of making new breakthroughs with Singaporean universities in key areas such as joint education initiatives, international science-and-technology transfer and commercialization, and climate-change research—elevating collaboration to a higher level, expanding mutual learning across more fields, and realizing synergistic development..

Consul-General Loh praised the results of cooperation in science, technology, and talent training. He said SJTU and Singaporean universities have aligned goals. He added that the Shanghai Consulate-General will keep serving as a bridge to support more practical projects.

Representatives from Grand NeoBay (大零号湾), Lifelong Education College, the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Global Institute Of Future Technology, and the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange attended the meeting.
