Apply
Purpose of the grants

Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and KTH Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) have identified each other as strategic partners to foster deep collaboration in research and education.

The purpose of the seed grants is to promote further joint research and education collaboration between Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and KTH Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) leading to the submission of at least one joint co-authored publication, at least 2 reciprocal visits for staff and/or students, and targeting a suitable scheme for the submission of a joint application for external research funding. The organization of a scientific workshop or PhD School can also be funded through this grant.

In this round of awards, applicants are encouraged to submit funding proposals for innovative and sustainable programs built around collaborative research linking SJTU and KTH.

A mid-term progress report must be submitted by January 15 providing evidence of outcomes to date.

In this round, up to six (6) proposals will be funded. Each institution will provide funds to its own researchers on both sides and the grant amount is up to RMB 52,000 for SJTU researchers and up to SEK 75,000 for KTH researchers, respectively. Funds may only be spent at the home institution/country.

Application and assessment process

Teams of researchers with one lead researcher from each institution should submit an application on the provided Application Form by the deadline.

Award selection will be made by a joint committee formed by members of both universities, which reserves final authority over the selection of projects taking into account, university and faculty strategic priorities, and the availability of funds.
