Introduction
María Máñez Costa is Senior Researcher at Climate Service Center Germany - GERICS Helmholtz Zentrum hereon GmbH. She works on political consulting, focused on international climate policy and climate economics. In her work she deals with the question, how can socio-economic systems be strengthened, to face the challenges related to climate change. Particular topics are resilience and adaptation of social ecological systems. Further focuses of her work are climate and security as well as participatory approaches. Doing so, the native of Spain works on the questions: how will climate change influence the security situation and how can different groups of society be involved in decision-making processes? Beside her work for CSC she is also visiting professor at the University of Barcelona, Spain where she teaches participatory tools for water resources management.
