Introduction
Dr. Juhong Yuan is a Climate Data Analyst with the municipal government in the City of Edmonton, Canada. In her current role, she leads key initiatives, including greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory analysis, future climate modeling, and the development of localized climate change mitigation strategies. Her work focuses on driving measurable emissions reductions and advancing long-term sustainability goals. Before assuming this role, Dr. Yuan served as a Transit Analyst with the City of Edmonton, where she analyzed the impact of public transit on GHG emissions, promoted alternative transportation modes for carbon reduction, and provided critical policy support for sustainable urban mobility. With 16 years of experience in GHG-related analyses and policy support across Canada and the USA, Dr. Yuan brings a wealth of expertise to her work. She earned her PhD in Transportation Technology and Policy from the University of California, Davis in 2014, along with dual MS degrees in Statistics and Agricultural Economics from UC Davis. Dr. Yuan’s academic and professional journey has been distinguished by her deep expertise in environmental assessment and her dedication to sustainability. As a graduate research fellow, she led pioneering projects in life cycle assessments of biofuels, GHG emissions from agricultural systems, and carbon accounting for the transportation sector. Her research has resulted in numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers, making significant contributions to the fields of GHG mitigation and sustainability. Her achievements have been recognized through several awards, including the Sustainable Transportation Fellowship in 2009 and the University of California Transportation Center Dissertation Fellowship in 2012.
