Smart license machines have been put into use by the SJTU International Affairs Division to ensure better fixed-location storage and accurate license management for official international visits.  The machines will make it easier for SJTU faculty members to collect and submit licenses on their own and save their much trouble.

The intelligent license storage machines provide 24/7 services for license handling, just like automatic teller machines (ATM). Faculty members can collect their licenses for official international visits with their second-generation ID card at any time they see fit. After coming back, they would have to submit their licenses immediately  as required by the regulations on management of licenses for official international visits.

In addition, the machines also allow others to collect licenses with their ID cards for those who cannot be present for special reasons, who need to submit online applications in advance.

After international visits, the machines would send text messages or emails to faculty members, reminding them to submit the licenses as soon as possible.

A department tasked with providing over-the-counter services, the Entry-Exit Administration and Service Center of the SJTU International Affairs Division has always carried out the principle of providing SJTU faculty members, medical staff, and students with efficient, thoughtful, and warm services. As the first university in China that seamlessly connects the foreign affairs management system with license management, SJTU has taken the lead in solving one of the key issues that Chinese and foreign faculty members and students have been very much concerned about, which is inspirational for other Chinese universities and colleges to develop better and more efficient foreign affairs management.
