From June 3rd to 7th, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) President Ding Kuiling led a delegation to visit France and Germany, attending the Joint Management Committee meeting of SJTU-Paris Elite Institute of Technology, renewing the cooperation agreement with RWTH Aachen University, and signing a university-level cooperation memorandum with ESCP Business School, furthering collaborations with universities in France and Germany.

On June 3rd, the delegation visited the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and its Biomedical Center campus, meeting with President Thomas Hofmann. Both parties expressed their willingness to deepen cooperation and looked forward to meeting again at the CREATE Project Management Committee meeting in Singapore in July to discuss specific collaboration details.

On the morning of June 4th, the Joint Management Committee of the SJTU-Paris Elite Institute of Technology held a hybrid meeting in Paris and Shanghai. The meeting reviewed reports on personnel, admissions, employment, and finance, examined the budget for the next year, discussed feedback from the CTI evaluation, and expressed heartfelt thanks to the outgoing French dean.

After the meeting, Ding Kuiling had a friendly discussion with some of the SJTU students currently studying in France.

On the afternoon of June 4th, the delegation visited Chimie ParisTech of PSL University. The two sides agreed to further expand student exchanges and educational cooperation based on the existing dual degree and student exchange programs between their chemistry and chemical engineering schools.

On June 5th, the delegation visited ESCP Business School and signed a university-level cooperation memorandum with President Frank Bournois. The future collaboration will further expand interdisciplinary exchanges and dual degree programs between the two institutions. ESCP Business School, the oldest business school in the world, has six campuses across Europe, allowing students to move freely between campuses and obtain degrees from multiple institutions. It is the model of a European university advocated by French President Emmanuel Macron.

On the afternoon of June 5th, the delegation visited PARIS21 (Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century) located in the OECD building and had an in-depth discussion with the director-general about cooperation intentions, objectives, and the feasibility of proposed projects.

On June 6th, the delegation visited RWTH Aachen University, exploring the Institute of Chemistry and the Institute of Smart Manufacturing, and renewed the university-level student exchange agreement with President Prof. Dr. Ulrich Rüdiger.

On June 7th, the delegation visited the Energy Lab of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the Chemical Technology Research Center co-built with the Fraunhofer Society. KIT Vice President for Innovation and International Affairs Prof. Dr. Thomas Hirth met with the delegation, providing a comprehensive overview of KIT, its international strategy, and its cooperation with SJTU. The collaboration between SJTU and KIT dates back to 1986, making SJTU the first Chinese university to establish and maintain a relationship with KIT. During the visit to KIT, Ding Kuiling also met with alumni working in Karlsruhe and Heidelberg, as well as SJTU students currently on exchange at KIT, engaging in discussions with them.

Representatives from the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, SJTU-Michigan Joint Institute, and SJTU-Paris Elite Institute of Technology accompanied the delegation on the visit.
