On the morning of October 22nd, the SJTU Proactive Healthcare Institute was established, and the 1st Proactive Health Conference was held. The meeting was jointly hosted by SJTU Proactive Healthcare Institute and the Antai College of Economics and Management.

President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ding Kuiling, and Chair Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Jia Weiping, jointly unveiled the Institute for Proactive Healthcare. Ding Kuiling announced the appointment of Jia Weiping as the Director of the institute, with Wu Jiarui appointed as the Executive Director.

Ding Kuiling delivered a speech and expressed high expectations for the institute. He mentioned that the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China clearly stated, "Promoting the construction of a Healthy China, placing the protection of people's health in a strategic priority; Chinese society has entered the 'Big Health Era,' striving for the health of the entire population." Shanghai Jiao Tong University, adhering to the national will, outlined its "Four Major Science and Technology Innovation Development Strategies" for the future, explicitly proposing the "Big Health Strategy." Ding Kuiling believes that the key to the success of the institute lies in two proactive approaches: firstly, proactively changing perspectives, and secondly, proactively promoting cross-disciplinary integration to drive the intersectional development of medicine and various disciplines.

Jia Weiping provided an overview of the institute's establishment. He pointed out that China has a massive population affected by chronic diseases, with the prevalence of chronic diseases continually rising. Establishing a proactive health research platform is a crucial means of ensuring the health of the people. Over the past two years, the construction of the proactive health research platform has been in the planning stages. With the establishment of the institute, it will focus on two major strategic objectives: "chronic disease management" and "proactive health." By integrating and applying research methods from various fields such as management, public health, medical science, and information science, the institute aims to conduct interdisciplinary research on significant issues related to chronic disease management and proactive health strategies. Using research and high-end think tank capabilities as catalysts, the institute aims to advance the construction of the chronic disease management platform and talent development base, promoting the transfer and transformation of achievements in proactive health science.

In the future, the Antai College of Economics and Management (ACEM) will form a strong alliance with the Institute for Proactive Health Strategies and Development (IPH) – "A+I." Embracing the spirit of "Seeking Truth and Pragmatism" at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the collaboration will leverage their respective disciplinary strengths to jointly explore interdisciplinary frontiers that have not been reached before.
