Recently, the theme workshop of 11th International Dialogue System Technology Challenge (DSTC 11) was held in Prague, Czech Republic. The joint team of the Cooperative Medianet Innovation Center at the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory won the championship in the knowledge-enhanced task-oriented dialogue track. This is also the first time that a university and research institution have won the championship in this track since its establishment.
DSTC, initiated by scientists from Microsoft and Carnegie Mellon University in 2013, is a prestigious global competition in the field of dialogue technology. It focuses on challenges in complex dialogue understanding and enjoys high authority and recognition in the dialogue domain. This year, it attracted over 80 participating teams from top global universities and research institutions, including iFLYTEK, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, National University of Singapore, and Seoul National University.
Representatives introduced the technical details of the participating systems at the DSTC Workshop.
A total of 14 teams with 49 systems participated in this track. The joint team of the Cooperative Medianet Innovation Center and Shanghai AI Laboratory secured the championship in the final human evaluation results. They not only surpassed teams from renowned institutions such as A*STAR in Singapore, LG AI Lab, and Seoul National University but also outperformed the official reference (Ground-truth) results in some scores. This demonstrates that the team's latest technological solutions in the field of dialogue systems have not only achieved theoretical breakthroughs but have also proven highly effective in practical applications.
