Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, Han Jun, visits SJTU Asia-Pacific Graduate Institute
On the afternoon of March 16th, Mr. Han Jun, Minister Counselor (Education) of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, visited and provided guidance at the SJTU Asia-Pacific Graduate Institute (SJTU-APGI). He was accompanied by Mr. Wang Wei, First Secretary of the Embassy's Education Office, Ms. Chen Liping, First Secretary, and Mr. Qiao Dan, Second Secretary. Professor Peng Yinghong, the Dean of SJTU-APGI, and Associate Dean Meng Jia, along with the entire staff, received them.
Professor Peng Yinghong reported to Minister Counselor Han Jun on the comprehensive operation of SJTU-APGI. Over the past thirty years in Singapore, Shanghai Jiao Tong University has trained nearly eight hundred business professionals and industry leaders, dedicating itself to providing sustainable development solutions for environmental and energy issues in China and Singapore. The establishment and construction of SJTU-APGI have also received care and support from the embassy. Ambassador Sun Haiyan visited SJTU-APGI within her first one hundred days in office to provide guidance, and former Ambassador Hong Xiaoyong attended the unveiling ceremony for the registration of SJTU-APGI. The Education Office of the embassy supports the operation of SJTU-APGI and assists in promoting joint doctoral programs with Nanyang Technological University.
Mr. Han Jun gained a detailed understanding of Shanghai Jiao Tong University's thirty years of investment and development in Singapore. He expressed concerns about attracting students to degree programs and suggested adjusting the educational programs in Singapore to better meet market demands. He commended the collaborative research models and achievements and expressed his hope that the SJTU-APGI could serve as a catalyst for further cooperation between China and Singapore. He also expressed continuous support for Shanghai Jiao Tong University as a representative of Chinese higher education and its pioneering efforts in Singapore.
Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nong Rong, and delegation visit SJTU Asia-Pacific Graduate Institute
On the morning of April 21st, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nong Rong, along with his delegation, visited the SJTU Asia-Pacific Graduate Institute (SJTU-APGI). Ambassador Sun Haiyan of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore accompanied them. Professor Peng Yinghong, the Dean of SJTU-APGI, and Mr. TONG Yen Wah, the representative from the National University of Singapore for the Ultra-Large City Energy and Environment Sustainable Solutions (E2S2) project, attended the briefing session and reception.
Assistant Minister Nong Rong and his delegation visited the Singapore Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE) program. They received a briefing from Professor Peng Yinghong regarding the operation of SJTU-APGI, with a particular focus on the progress of the Ultra-Large City Energy and Environment Sustainable Solutions (E2S2) project, a major research collaboration in Singapore.
Led by Professor Tong Yen Wah and doctoral students, the delegation also toured the E2S2 project laboratory, where they received detailed explanations.
Assistant Minister Nong Rong expressed appreciation for Shanghai Jiao Tong University's endeavors in overseas education exploration and large-scale research collaborations in Singapore.
