SJTU and University of Warwick Signed MoU Online for Deepening Partnership

On April 21st, 2022, President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) Professor Lin Zhongqin and President of the University of Warwick (UoW) Professor Stuart Croft renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) via an online meeting. The online event was attended by Vice-President of SJTU Professor Xu Xuemin, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UoW Professor Mike Shipman and Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UoW Professor Sai Gu.

Prof. Lin said that the first MoU between SJTU and UoW was signed in 2017 and that as strategic partners, the two universities has been promoting cooperation and made tremendous achievements since then. He also recognized the creative efforts made by both sides during the pandemic to conduct extensive and diverse online cooperation that demonstrated the goodwill and determination for sustained collaboration.

Prof. Stuart Croft extended his concern and regards to the faculty and students of SJTU for their combat against the pandemic, and expressed his belief that the situation would turn for the better with joint efforts from all parties and the life of the faculty and students of SJTU would soon go back to normal. The UoW values its partnership with SJTU very much and the faculty and students from the two sides have had established various links and cooperation. The two sides are expected to kick off several collaborative projects in 2022. The seed funding project and the summer scientific research challenge project have already entered the phase of preparation and implementation. He looked forward to expanding cooperation in joint doctoral programs between the two universities to further support joint research. He also expressed his gratitude to SJTU for its unwavering support in promoting the bilateral cooperation.

The event was also attended both online and on-site by participants from the SJTU Graduate School and International Affairs Division.
