Recently, Professor Shen Yao from the Institute of Phase Transition and Structure of the School of Materials Science and Engineering (SMSE) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) was invited to work as an editorial advisory board member for one of the top international plasticity journals: International Journal of Plasticity (IJP).

This is another accolade that SMSE has gained for its involvement in running an internationally-renowned journal. IJP is a top international academic journal in plastic behavior, damage and fracture of materials.

Prof. Yao will work as one of the main reviewers of some papers and participate in reexamining controversial papers, commissioning authors to write on given topics and organizing sub-forums for the annual International Conference on the Technology of Plasticity. Prof. Yao has been working on the micromechanics of materials for a long time and achieved a number of internationally-impactful academic outcomes, as evidenced by over 70 SCI papers published in leading international journals such as PRL, IJP (6), Acta Mater (7), Scripta (9), and JMPS.
