In March 2022, despite the difficult situation caused by the pandemic, the International Affairs Division still carried out the international undergraduate recruitment and entrance examination smoothly and in an orderly manner. Furthermore, two other important tasks were completed successfully and efficiently in the first weeks of the lockdown when the situation was the most difficult - preliminary interviews and the entrance examination.

The Interview was conducted in an orderly manner, and the international students took part in interviews from different time zones

Due to Covid-19 resurgence situation, the International Affairs Division had to move all the interviews online. Within a day, almost 1000 candidates' application materials were successfully uploaded and distributed to interviewers, which not only allowed them to read the candidates' materials but also ensured the security of the candidates' information, achieving a paperless interview process for the first time. To better prepare for the interviews, the interviewers and staff were trained online in advance. The online question answering and equipment testing system was open all day long to provide maximum support and ensure that the interview process ran smoothly for the staff who could not attend the online training. At the same time, the network information center set up a temporary support team to provide a 24-hour problem-solving channel for everyone. To put the interests and safety of students and the school first during the pandemic, the International Affairs Division inspected the Covid prevention situation of all the interview staff. In the early stages of the preparatory work, extra staff were also arranged asbackups to ensure that the interviews would run smoothly. In the end, the preliminary interviews were conducted successfully on March 12th. Over 95% of the students attended the online interviews, and the problem-solving rate was 100%.

On March 19th – 20th, the online exam for international undergraduate enrollment was also carried out smoothly as planned. Despite the difficulties during the epidemic, before the exam, to help students get familiar with the exam system, the International Affairs Division conducted an online testing exam on March 16th. After the testing, questions asked by students were answered. At the same time, for those who could not provide telephone consultation during the working from home period, the teachers worked in shifts to reply to emails as soon as possible, significantly increasing the speed of email replies and extending the working hours to 9:00 p.m., responding to almost all questions within 10 minutes, and taking the initiative to send reminder emails for questions asked by students.

During the pandemic, the fast, efficient, and caring working methods and approaches were highly recognized and praised by the teachers and students. At the same time, the smooth implementation of this recruitment and admissions examination provided valuable experience for improving the online examination system for international undergraduate admissions and created a new way of thinking for our university to carry out international undergraduate-related work in the post-epidemic era.
