Carrying forward the timeless spirit of “songs that never cease,” the “130·Origins” Shanghai Jiao Tong University Alumni Concert was held on November 29, 2025, at the Zero Bay Cultural and Art Center. The event marked 130 days until the 130th anniversary of the founding of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). Over a thousand attendees—including Secretary of the Party Committee Yang Zhenbin, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President Hu Weiwei, Standing Deputy Director of the University Council Zhang Ansheng, presidents and secretaries-general of alumni associations worldwide, long-time supporters of the Siyuan Annual Giving Program, community partners, alumni entrepreneurs of the Zero Bay area, and faculty and student representatives—gathered to celebrate shared roots and welcome the upcoming milestone.

Jointly organized by the Office of the Alumni Association and the School of Humanities (Art Education Center), and hosted by the SJTU Student Art Troupe and Alumni Art Troupe Association—with strong support from the SJTU Finance and Investment Alumni Association—the concert was conducted by Associate Professor Wu Yibo of the School of Humanities. The Alumni Symphony Orchestra, Student Wind Ensemble, and Student Symphony Orchestra performed a rich repertoire, including Dance of the Golden Snake, selections from Symphonic Dances, Beyond the Farewell, a medley from Journey to the West, Bohemian Rhapsody, Carmen Suites No. 1 and No. 2, As Wished, and other classics, delivering a musical feast created by and for SJTUers.

Wang Jinming, Secretary-General of the Finance and Investment Alumni Association, and Chi Weixian, Vice President of the Materials Science and Engineering Alumni Association, shared touching stories of how alumni—both individually and collectively—have long supported their alma mater in various ways. They encouraged more SJTUers to actively participate in alumni activities and giving programs, contributing to the university’s 130th anniversary and supporting its educational mission through concrete actions.

.
The concert concluded with a rousing chorus of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Anthem. Though the evening was brief, the bonds run deep. The university looks forward to welcoming alumni from around the world back to campus next year to celebrate the 130th anniversary and compose a new chapter together.
The SJTU Student Art Troupe, upholding the mission of “education through practice and aesthetic nourishment,” has achieved outstanding results in world-class competitions and produced acclaimed works such as the master dramas Qian Xuesen and Sea Cabbage Blossoms. It stands as a vibrant embodiment of SJTU’s commitment to holistic education integrating science and the arts. In 2024, the SJTU Alumni Art Troupe Association was officially established, with 1945 alumnus Lu Yan serving as Honorary President and 1974 alumnus Tang Yizhong as President. More than a thousand alumni worldwide have joined the association, actively participating in artistic training and professional exchange activities, greatly enriching the cultural life of the SJTU alumni community.
