Beijing Alumni Association, Sports Alumni Fellowship Association
From October 16 to 17, the 9th Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) Global Alumni Golf Invitational was held in Beijing. As one of the series events of the 2025 “Siyuan Cup” Alumni Sports Invitational, hosted by the Global Alumni Golf Association, organized by the Beijing Alumni Association, and supported by the Sports Alumni Fellowship Association. Nine teams from around the world and more than 100 alumni took part, gathered on the course to strengthen bonds and enhance camaraderie through the sport. Zhang Ansheng, Executive Deputy Director of the University Council, along with representatives from the Alumni Association Office, the Department of Physical Education, and the Beijing Alumni Association attended the event.
At the opening, Zhang Ansheng and the captains of each team jointly struck the ceremonial tee shot to start the tournament. Liu Zhixin, Executive President of the Beijing Alumni Association, warmly welcomed alumni from all regions to Beijing and expressed the hope that this invitational would serve as an opportunity to strengthen communication and ties among alumni. Liu Gongting, President of the Global Alumni Golf Association, reviewed the history of the alumni sports invitational and thanked the Beijing Alumni Association and all alumni for their strong support.
Zhang Ansheng pointed out that the invitational is not only a sports event where participants can sweat and compete, but also an important platform for alumni communication and connection. He expressed the hope that while enjoying the game, alumni would also enhance mutual understanding and cooperation, cherish the shared Siyuan spirit, and jointly explore future development.
After two exciting days of competition, a number of team and individual awards were presented. At the awards ceremony, Gong Qiang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Department of Physical Education and President of the Sports Alumni Fellowship Association, together with Zhang Liqiang, Deputy Director of the Alumni Association Office and Deputy Secretary-General of the Alumni Association, presented appointment letters to the first council members of the Global Alumni Golf Association. The teams from Shenzhen, Beijing, and Guangdong won the team championship, runner-up, and third place respectively. During the flag handover ceremony, Wang Yunxia, captain of the Beijing team, passed the event flag to Mao Zhiling, captain of the Shanghai team, marking that next year’s invitational will be held in Shanghai.
Guided by gratitude and driven by shared aspirations, the spirit of the invitational has been passed down from generation to generation. Since it was first spontaneously organized by enthusiastic alumni in 2014, the Alumni Golf Invitational has become one of the important activities for alumni to deepen friendships, promote exchange, and carry forward SJTU’s culture. The Global Alumni Golf Association will continue to play its role in uniting and connecting alumni, using golf tournaments as a platform to strengthen cross-regional exchange and interaction, and to support the shared development of the University and its alumni community.
