"The Belt and Road Initiative" aims to promote common development and shared prosperity among countries along the route. Since its implementation in Thailand, the initiative has taken root and borne fruit, becoming a new driving force for practical cooperation between China and Thailand. The Chao Phraya River is Thailand's major river, serving as an essential waterway in the central plains region for agricultural irrigation, water supply, and goods transportation. However, in recent years, rapid urban development has led to serious pollution of the river from domestic wastewater and industrial effluents. Severe contamination has been reported along the riverbanks, and even incidents of fish die-offs have occurred in the Chao Phraya River Basin.

The project team collaborated with Mahidol University in Thailand, and through research activities, on-site surveys, sample site selection, designated sampling, and water quality monitoring using scientific methods, assessed the local environmental protection policies as well as the pollution conditions of the Chao Phraya and Mekong River. The team completed sampling of water from the upper and lower reaches of the Chao Phraya River (sampling points S3 and S4), and conducted on-site measurements of indicators such as Nephelometric Turbidity Units (NTU), dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, and water temperature (T). These efforts aimed to provide technical support and scientific guidance for pollution control in the Chao Phraya River Basin. At the same time, the team engaged in dialogue with local governments to understand specific environmental policies, conducted field investigations of Thailand's Thai-Chinese Rayong Industrial Zone, and analyzed the impact of surrounding production and social activities on water quality. Based on these findings, they submitted analysis reports and recommendations for improvement.
