The Jiao Tong Global Virtual Classroom (Jiao Tong GVC) Initiative encourages Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) faculty to establish collaborative online courses with partner universities across the globe. SJTU and their international partners jointly build or share undergraduate/postgraduate-level courses delivered synchronously or asynchronously. As virtual exchanges allow for convenient and valuable international experiences, Jiao Tong GVC will provide students with opportunities to gain global perspectives, enhance cross-cultural competence, and deepen their understanding of the subject. This initiative also encourages universities to share quality teaching resources and enable students from different countries to exchange ideas and get inspired by one another in the global virtual classroom.
In 2021 spring semester, six shared courses have been provided on the APRU Virtual Student Exchange platform, which attracted students from Nanyang Technology University,Chinese University of Hong Kong, etc. Funded by Universitas 21, Joint Courses have been developed together with UC Davis (USA) and Tecnologico de Monterrey (Mexico).
In 2021 fall semester, Jiao Tong GVC provides overseas students with undergraduate and postgraduate-level courses delivered synchronously or asynchronously. Courses taught in English covered Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine, Humanities and Social Sciences.
