On the afternoon of June 13, 2024, the launch meeting for the Shanghai division of the China International University Student Innovation Competition was held at the conference center of the Dazero Innovation Tower. More than 400 teachers and students from various universities in the city attended the meeting, which was hosted by Yang Jie, Director of the Higher Education Department of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission.
This year's competition, themed "I Dare, I Can Innovate," aims to fulfill the fundamental task of moral education, inherit and promote the red gene, focus on the integration of the "five educations" with innovation and entrepreneurship education practices, initiate a new journey of innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, and inspire the enthusiasm of young students for innovation and creativity. It seeks to build an international innovation event characterized by shared creation and mutual benefit, further unlocking the intrinsic potential of higher education development and allowing youth to bloom in the vibrant practice of building a modern socialist country.
Zhang Zhaoguo, Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, delivered a speech. He stated that the "Youth Red Dream-Chasing Journey" activity of the China International University Student Innovation Competition (2024) was held in Shanghai on June 12, marking the official start of this year's competition. The launch of the Shanghai division in Dazero Innovation Tower is timely. Shanghai Jiao Tong University has always placed great emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurship education, closely aligning with Shanghai's "Five Centers" and three leading industries, bravely exploring and practicing. The university has partnered with Minhang District to create the Dazero Innovation Source Functional Area, contributing to the high-quality development of the Southern Sci-tech Center of Shanghai. SJTU has hosted the municipal competition for five consecutive years and is further hosting the national competition this year. The university will meticulously prepare and fully ensure the smooth progress of the competition, showcasing Shanghai's spirit and level.
Zhou Jie, Vice President of China Construction Bank's Shanghai Branch, pointed out that this year marks the tenth consecutive year that the branch has supported the competition. CCB has consistently adhered to its mission of serving national strategies, supporting the development of education through concrete actions, launching special plans for technology finance, achieving a positive cycle of technology, industry, and finance, and continuously empowering technological innovation and talent cultivation. In the future, CCB will continue to provide strong backing for young students' innovation and entrepreneurship, contributing financial strength to the construction of an innovative entrepreneurial education and a strong talent nation.
Liu Li, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, stated that the launch of the Shanghai division of the 2024 competition is a concrete action to actively respond to national calls and transform the strategic intentions of innovation-driven and talent-strong nation into educational practice, promoting Shanghai to stand out in the new era's wave of innovation. He proposed three requirements for the competition's related work: first, to deeply understand the importance of the competition; second, to strengthen the construction of the innovation and entrepreneurship education system; third, to comprehensively plan and promote the organization of the competition; fourth, to use the municipal competition as a foundation to prepare for the national competition. Finally, he encouraged young students to strive forward with courage and wisdom in innovation and entrepreneurship, writing a historical responsibility of "I contribute to a strong nation."

A large number of outstanding projects emerged from the Shanghai division of last year's competition. At the launch meeting, guests presented the gold awards and outstanding organization awards to the winners.
To facilitate entrepreneurship and enhance professional support, the launch meeting included a competition training session. Zhang Rui, Chairman of Beijing Wanxue Group, and Zhang Feng, Chairman of Zhongguancun Software Park High Growth Fund, provided interpretations and insights on the 2024 competition.
The China International University Student Innovation Competition, jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and central and local governments, aims to thoroughly implement the important discussions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on education and the decisions and deployments of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council. It has become the largest and most influential innovation and entrepreneurship event for university students in China. The 2024 competition is jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, co-hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the People's Government of Minhang District. Shanghai will use this launch meeting as a starting point to plan comprehensively, strengthen organization, and orderly promote various tasks of this year's competition, enhancing the sharing of innovation and entrepreneurship education resources, facilitating the docking and transformation of innovation and entrepreneurship projects, cultivating more "daring and innovative" young talents on a larger scale, and providing strong support for building an education powerhouse.
The Shanghai division of the competition is jointly organized by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Shanghai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, and Shanghai Youth League Committee. It is hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, co-organized by the Shanghai Branch of China Construction Bank, and specially supported by Shanghai Nanbinjiang Investment Development Co., Ltd. The registration for the Shanghai division will start in June and will last for about three months, including preliminary, semi-final, and final competitions, as well as special training sessions. Awards for the Shanghai division will be determined, and outstanding teams and projects will be recommended for the national competition. This competition will further stimulate the innovation and entrepreneurship potential of the city's young students, truly achieving learning, teaching, and creating through competition, encouraging students to meet challenges with the best state and greatest enthusiasm, and pursuing dreams in the new era of innovation and entrepreneurship for a better future.
