Professor Jiang Zhibin from Shanghai Jiao Tong University has been elected as a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts

On June 5th, 2024, through a vote by the Council of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, Professor Jiang Zhibin, a distinguished professor at the Antai College of Economics and Management at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the director of the Sino-US Institute of Logistics, was elected as an academician (Technology and Environmental Sciences Division) for his outstanding contributions to the theory and application research of complex production and service system operation management in the field of industrial engineering. On June 12th, 2024, the President of the Academy, Prof. Klaus Mainzer, sent a congratulatory letter to Professor Jiang Zhibin.

 

The European Academy of Sciences and Arts is an international academic organization with wide-ranging reputation in the fields of science and arts, dedicated to promoting interdisciplinary collaboration among renowned scientists, leading artists, and theoretical practitioners. It consists of seven divisions: Humanities, Medicine, Arts, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Law and Economics, Technology and Environmental Sciences, and World Religions. Among its 2000-plus members are 35 Nobel Prize laureates.

Professor Jiang Zhibin's Biography:

Professor Jiang Zhibin, Ph.D. (Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering Management, City University of Hong Kong), is a national-level high-level talent. He is a Fellow of the International Society of Industrial and Systems Engineers and served as Vice Chairman from 2019 to 2023. He is currently the director of the Sino-US Institute of Logistics and a distinguished professor at the Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Previously, Professor Jiang served as the Director of the Academic Affairs Office (2007-2014) and the Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management (2001-2018) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He also holds positions as the Deputy Director of the Teaching Steering Committee for Industrial Engineering under the Ministry of Education, Supervisor of the Industrial Engineering Division of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, and Chairman of the Industrial Engineering Professional Committee of the Shanghai Mechanical Engineering Society. He is the editor-in-chief, associate editor, or editorial board member of five international journals, including the International Journal of Production Research, and the executive editor of the Journal of Industrial Engineering. His main research areas include the management of complex production and service systems, intelligent manufacturing and service-oriented manufacturing management, healthcare service engineering, and smart logistics and supply chain management. He has led one major project funded by the National Social Science Foundation, three key projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, eight general projects, and more than 20 other national-level research projects. Professor Jiang has published six books and over 340 papers, including 140 papers in top-tier and influential international journals such as MS, OR, POMS, JOC, IISE, TRB, and IEEE TAC. He has received second-class awards at the provincial and ministerial level in humanities and social sciences (ranking first), and a first-class award for scientific and technological progress at the provincial and ministerial level (ranking first). He has also been honored with two second-class national awards for teaching achievements, five national excellent courses, and two selected outstanding case studies for professional degree graduate students by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. He has been awarded the Baosteel Excellent Teacher Special Award. From 2014 to 2018, he was consecutively listed as a highly cited researcher in the field of "Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering" by Elsevier China. Professor Jiang Zhibin has made significant economic and social contributions by promoting the application of industrial engineering theories and methods in industries such as major equipment manufacturing, household appliances, explosion-proof electrical manufacturing, smart homes, logistics, and healthcare services.
