Professor Guo Minyi from Shanghai Jiao Tong University Receives IEEE Edward J. McCluskey Technical Achievement Award
Recently, the IEEE Computer Society officially announced that Professor Guo Minyi from the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University has been awarded the 2023 Edward J. McCluskey Technical Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions in "Resource-Efficient Cloud Computing Design and Implementation." Among the four scholars who received this honor this year, Professor Guo Minyi is the only Chinese scholar to receive the award.
Introduction to the award
The Edward J. McCluskey Technical Achievement Award was established in 1985 and is named after the first president of the society, Edward McCluskey. This award is designed to honor outstanding scholars who have made exceptional innovative contributions in the field of computer information science and engineering over the past 10-15 years, significantly advancing technological progress. To date, there have been 103 recipients of this prestigious award worldwide.
Award recipient profile
Professor Guo Minyi, an overseas member of the European Academy of Sciences, IEEE Fellow, ACM Distinguished Member, Executive Council Member and Fellow of the China Computer Federation, and a national-level high-level talent, serves as the academic leader of an innovation team under the Ministry of Education and the Chief Scientist of the 973 Program. He has received the National Technology Invention Second Prize in 2019 and multiple provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological awards.
Professor Guo Minyi's research mainly focuses on parallel and distributed computing, big data, compilation and program optimization. He has published over 500 papers in various academic journals and conferences, authored 6 books in both Chinese and English, and holds more than 40 granted invention patents. He has received the Best Paper Award at international academic conferences on seven occasions.
