 "Global Chat over Lunch" is a series of specially curated dining and dialogue events meticulously planned by ISSC, tailored exclusively for both Chinese and international teachers and students. It aims to facilitate in-depth exchange and mutual learning among diverse cultures. In a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, teachers and students engage in lively and profound discussions centered around unique perspectives and rich experiences from different cultural backgrounds, jointly broadening their global horizons and enhancing their cross-cultural communication skills. At the same time, teachers also contribute their wisdom and strength by sharing their extensive international experience, helping students build their own global competence.

Peter Bradley Shull

Professor, Institute of Robotics, School of Mechanical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Ph.D. Supervisor.

Professor Peter Bradley Shull joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2013 as the first full-time foreign faculty member at the school. He was selected for the National High-Level Young Talents Program and was promoted to full professor in 2021. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, with research focused on intelligent wearable sensors, feedback systems, and multi-sensor fusion algorithms.

He founded the Intelligent Wearable Device Laboratory, has led multiple projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and actively collaborates with leading industry partners such as Bosch to promote technology transfer and innovation. In teaching, he is committed to bringing cutting-edge international research into the classroom, cultivating students’ cross-cultural perspectives and scientific research capabilities. His Ph.D. students have gone on to achieve outstanding development in universities and research institutions both in China and abroad.

As an exemplary figure in the university’s internationalization efforts, Professor Shull has played a leading role in both research and education through his rigorous academic approach and global perspective, making significant contributions to international exchange and talent development at the university.
