International Teachers and Students at SJTU School of Humanities Make Dumplings to Celebrate the Chinese New Year

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, some international teachers and students had to stay at school far away from home during the winter holiday. To enliven their days here, on the afternoon of January 19th, 2021, SJTU School of Humanities (SoH) organized a dumpling-making festival to celebrate traditional Chinese New Year . The teachers and students from Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Canada, Morocco and Congo embraced the Chinese lunar New Year and experienced the customs together with their Chinese friends. Present at the event were also Vice Dean of SoH Ms. Cai Wenjing, Tenured Professor of SoH Center for International Chinese Education Mr. Matthias Gerner, Tenure-track Associate Professor of SoH Department of History Mr. Manuel Perez Garcia, Associate Research Fellow of SoH Department of History Mr. Ishida Ryuji, Tenure-track Associate Professor of SoH Department of Philosophy Mr. Nicola Liberati, Head of SoH International Office Ms. Mo Xiaoling, Staff of SoH International Office Ms. Li Xiaoxuan and some international students.

This event has given international teachers and students an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Chinese New Year and traditional Chinese culture. They were inspired to cherish the days that they have spent and will spend studying or working in China, and continue working with their Chinese peers to forge an even brighter future.
