The 2024 Society for Financial Studies (SFS) Cavalcade Asia-Pacific Conference was held from December 13-15 in Seoul, South Korea, drawing distinguished faculty and doctoral candidates from the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF).
The conference, jointly hosted by SFS and the Department of FinTech at SKK Business School, Sungkyunkwan University, maintained exceptional academic standards with a selective 11.8% acceptance rate—featuring 60 papers from 508 submissions. The program encompassed cutting-edge financial research topics, including artificial intelligence, alternative markets, ESG, inflation dynamics, market announcements, corporate finance, fixed income securities, and behavioral finance.
SAIF Chair Professor Jun Pan served as conference chair and delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the conference's commitment to fostering meaningful academic discourse through extended paper discussions. In her keynote address, "The Stock-Bond Correlation: A Tale of Two Days in the U.S. Treasury Bond Market," Professor Pan presented innovative research on high-frequency measurements of stock-bond correlations, illuminating the dual nature of U.S. Treasury securities as both safe-haven assets and potential risk indicators.
SAIF's scholarly contributions included six notable presentations:
• Two papers on pre-announcement market dynamics by Professor Jun Pan and Ph.D. candidate Qing Peng
• Research on Federal Reserve information effects by Professors Jun Pan and Yurong Hong, with Ph.D. graduate Shiwen Tian
• Analysis of labor costs in corporate recovery by Chair Professor Xiaoyun Yu
• Investigation of technology sector financing by Assistant Professor Huang Qiushi
• Examination of AI ethics and decision-making by Ph.D. candidate Xingjian Zheng
Professors Yurong Hong, Qiushi Huang, and Yu Li enhanced the academic dialogue as discussion panelists.
