On November 11, 2024, Ding Kuiling, President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Liu Weidong, Vice President, met with Stefano Corgnati, President of the Polytechnic University of Turin, and his delegation at the Minhang campus.

Ding Kuiling warmly welcomed the visit of Stefano Corgnati, President of the Polytechnic University of Turin, and his delegation. The two universities have a solid foundation for cooperation, having jointly promoted collaborative initiatives such as the Joint Research Center, dual PhD programs, and student exchange programs. They have also carried out a series of collaborations in disciplines such as electrical engineering, energy, and design. President Ding expressed hope that the two institutions could further expand their cooperation in areas like smart energy, and the preservation and management of cultural heritage.

Stefano Corgnati introduced the recent developments at the Polytechnic University of Turin and stated that Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of the most important strategic partners of his university in China. He expressed hope that the two universities could deepen their collaboration in both research and education, and promote academic exchanges between their students and faculty. He particularly emphasized the need to strengthen scientific research cooperation in the field of energy conversion and to develop green and sustainable energy technologies. This is not only an academic issue, but also a matter of great importance for the development of human civilization and people's livelihoods.

After the seminar, the delegation from the Polytechnic University of Turin also had exchanges with the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering and the School of Design.
