On October 25, 2024, Liu Weidong, Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, met with a delegation led by President Ho Teck Hua of Nanyang Technological University at the Minhang campus. The two sides engaged in discussions on how to further strengthen and deepen their existing cooperation. The delegation included Mr. Lee Tong Yang, the second Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education of Singapore, Dr. Lee Hsiang Long, Chief Technology Officer for Defense and Public Security in Singapore, as well as other board members and vice presidents from Nanyang Technological University.
Liu Weidong warmly welcomed President Ho Teck Hua and his delegation, briefly introducing the historical development and progress of the collaboration between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Nanyang Technological University. He expressed hope for smoother advancements in cooperation across various fields, including research collaboration, joint education programs, faculty exchanges, and student interactions, further promoting academic exchange and mutual development between the two institutions.
Ho Teck Hua expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm reception from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He pointed out that the two universities complement each other's strengths in research and academic development. Their collaboration not only fosters innovative breakthroughs in research but also contributes significantly to global scientific endeavors.
Ho Teck Hua and his delegation also visited the National Science Center for Translational Medicine and the National Key Laboratory of Ocean Engineering.
Heads of relevant departments, including the Human Resources Department, Student Innovation Center, Graduate School, Institute of Scientific and Technological Development, Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Planning and Development Office, Zhiyuan College, School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Civil Engineering, and the Institute of Translational Medicine, also attended the meeting and gave speeches.
