Professor Jiang Zhibin from Shanghai Jiao Tong University elected as a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts

On June 5, 2024, following a vote by the Council of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, Professor Jiang Zhibin, a distinguished professor at the Antai College of Economics and Management and the Director of the Sino-American Institute of Logistics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, was elected as a fellow (Faculty of Technology and Environmental Sciences) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the theory and application research of complex production and service systems operations management in the field of industrial engineering. On June 12, 2024, Prof. Klaus Mainzer, the President of the Academy, sent a congratulatory letter to Professor Jiang Zhibin.

The European Academy of Sciences and Arts is an esteemed international academic organization renowned in the fields of science and arts. It is dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among prominent scientists, leading artists, and theoretical practitioners across various disciplines. The Academy comprises seven faculties: Humanities, Medicine, Arts, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Law and Economics, Technology and Environmental Sciences, and World Religions, with over 2,000 members, including 35 Nobel laureates.

Brief Biography of Professor Jiang Zhibin:

Jiang Zhibin, Ph.D. (Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering Management, City University of Hong Kong), is a national-level high-level talent. He is a Fellow of the International Society of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), having served as Vice Chair (2019-2023). Currently, he holds positions as the Director of the Sino-American Institute of Logistics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Antai College of Economics and Management. Previously, he served as the Director of the Office of Academic Affairs (2007-2014) and Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management (2001-2018) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Additionally, he serves as the Deputy Director of the Ministry of Education's Teaching Steering Committee for Industrial Engineering, Supervisor of the Industrial Engineering Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, and Chair of the Industrial Engineering Professional Committee of the Shanghai Mechanical Engineering Society. He is also the Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editor, or Editorial Board Member of five international journals, including the International Journal of Production Research and serves as the Executive Editor of the journal "Industrial Engineering." His primary research interests include operations management of complex production and service systems, intelligent manufacturing and service-oriented manufacturing management, healthcare service engineering, and smart logistics and supply chain management. He has led one major project funded by the National Social Science Fund, three key projects funded by the National Natural Science Fund, eight general projects, and more than 20 other national-level projects. He has published six books and over 340 papers, including 140 in top-tier and important international journals such as MS, OR, POMS, JOC, IISE, TRB, and IEEE TAC. He has received a second prize in humanities and social sciences at the provincial and ministerial levels (first place), a first prize for scientific and technological progress at the provincial and ministerial levels (first place), two second prizes for national-level teaching achievements, five national-level boutique courses, and has been selected for two outstanding cases of professional graduate education by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. He has received the Baosteel Outstanding Teacher Special Award and was listed as a "Highly Cited Researcher in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering" by Elsevier China for five consecutive years from 2014 to 2018. Professor Jiang Zhibin has also made significant economic and social contributions through the application of industrial engineering theoretical methods in major equipment, household appliances, explosion-proof electrical manufacturing, smart homes, manufacturing industries, logistics industries, and healthcare services industries.
