University leaders met with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool and his delegation

On 4-5 June, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the friendship city between Shanghai and Liverpool, Tariq Ali, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool, and his delegation visited SJTU. Vice President Zhang Zhaoguo and Hu Weiwei met the guests respectively.

On the afternoon of 4 June, at Minhang Campus, Hu Weiwei welcomed Tariq Ali and his delegation, hoping to establish a solid foundation for cooperation in scientific research, teaching and other aspects and promote in-depth academic exchanges through the upcoming university-level cooperation agreement and seed fund project agreement between the two universities.

Tariq Ali said that SJTU is one of the most important strategic partners of the University of Liverpool. He emphasised that both universities attach great importance to internationalisation and the transfer of research results, as well as to the important role of universities in the development of countries and cities, and believe that together they can make more contributions to the development of society.

On 5th June, Tariq Ali and his delegation attended the 25th Anniversary of Shanghai-Liverpool Sister City Celebration Ceremony held at Pudong Art Museum. During the ceremony, Zhang Zhaoguo and Tariq Ali signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the two schools and the agreement on Joint Seed Fund Project in the presence of Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office and Liverpool Municipal Government. 

Representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, School of Marine and Architectural Engineering, School of Oceanography, School of Design, School of Humanities and other units of the university participated in the relevant activities.
