On 24 April, SJTU Vice President Liu Weidong met with Dennis Galvan, Vice Provost of the University of Oregon, at the Minhang Campus.
Liu Weidong welcomed Dennis Galvan's visit and thanked the University of Oregon for its support to SJTU on the platform of the Alliance of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU). Liu Weidong introduced the current basic situation of SJTU in terms of discipline development, talent cultivation and internationalisation. SJTU now has more than 100 laboratories open to international students, and students from the University of Oregon are welcome to participate in our summer school and summer research internship programmes.
Dennis Galvan said that the two universities were founded at a similar time and are both comprehensive universities with a full range of disciplines. At the same time, both universities are members of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), and can take advantage of this multilateral platform to share resources and deepen cooperation.
The two sides plan to further deepen exchanges and co-operation between the two schools in the fields of design and media.
Relevant representatives from the International Cooperation and Exchange Office and the School of Design attended the meeting.
