On the morning of April 20th, Yang Zhenbin, the Party Secretary of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, met with Deborah Terry, the President of Queensland University of Technology from Australia, at the Xuhui Campus. Vice President Liu Weidong accompanied the meeting.123.jpg

Yang Zhenbin warmly welcomed President Deborah Terry's visit and briefly introduced the university's situation and disciplinary development. He emphasized the importance of universities cooperating in education and technology, sharing mutual learning experiences, and jointly assuming social and global responsibilities in talent cultivation, especially amidst the complex international situation. Shanghai Jiao Tong University has always encouraged students to go abroad for academic exchanges and broaden their international perspectives. Yang expressed his anticipation for further deepening mutual understanding, expanding cooperation areas, and taking future cooperation to new heights.

President Deborah Terry stated that Queensland University of Technology attaches great importance to its cooperation with Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The two universities share similar goals and visions, with broad prospects for cooperation. Queensland University of Technology focuses on forward-looking scientific research, and in the future, the two sides can deepen scientific research cooperation in areas such as marine environment, agriculture, materials, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, she looks forward to exploring cooperation in joint doctoral and graduate student training in the future.

During the discussion, Yang Zhenbin and Deborah Terry signed a Seed Fund Cooperation Agreement. This agreement, signed with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, is the first joint seed fund agreement signed between the university and an overseas partner.

Officials from relevant departments and colleges of the university attended the meeting.

Queensland University of Technology, founded in 1909, is the first comprehensive university in Queensland and one of the largest and most prestigious universities in Australia.
