On 19 December, SJTU Vice President Xu Xuemin met with Rachel Croson, Executive Vice President and Provost of the University of Minnesota (UMN), and her delegation at the Minhang Campus.
Xu Xuemin extended a warm welcome to Rachel Croson and her delegation and reviewed the extensive cooperation between the two universities in various fields over the years. Xu Xuemin said that the epidemic has not stopped the pace of close cooperation between the two universities, and SJTU encourages more students from the University of Minnesota to come to Shanghai for exchange or to participate in scientific research internships, and looks forward to further deepening the cooperation between the two sides in the fields of linguistics, economics and management, the environment, and mechanical engineering.
Rachel Croson said that the University of Minnesota has more than 3,000 Chinese students and scholars, and more than 5,000 alumni are active in all parts of China. She hopes that the two universities can deepen the existing co-operation, and explore the co-operation in the fields of environmental resources, agricultural economy, and health, so as to bring together the talents and solve the global challenges together.
The two sides renewed the university-level cooperation framework agreement to further consolidate international academic exchanges and talent cultivation cooperation. After the meeting, the delegation visited the Student Innovation Centre.
Representatives from International Cooperation and Exchange Office, School of Mechanical and Power Engineering, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, School of Foreign Languages and Antai College of Economics and Management attended the meeting.
