From December 5 to 12, Yang Zhenbin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, led a delegation to Germany, France and the United Kingdom, and had a cordial discussion with local alumni.
On December 5, Yang Zhenbin and his delegation exchanged views with 16 directors and senior alumni of the French Alumni Association, and on behalf of the university, he sent greetings to the French alumni from the alma mater, and was deeply gratified by the achievements of the alumni. He introduced to the alumni the achievements of the alma mater in the process of development and future planning in recent years, and welcomed them to come back to the school often to make greater contributions to the promotion of Sino-French scientific and technological cultural exchanges and cooperation. President of French Alumni Association Jin Huaming, Honorary President Yan Xiaohua, Chairman of the Board of Directors Xu Weiyuan, and Vice Chairman Zhang Hongbing introduced their experiences in France, and expressed their deep affection and keen concern for their alma mater.
On December 6, the inauguration ceremony of the German Centre of Shanghai Jiaotong University was held. After the ceremony, Yang Zhenbin and his entourage had a cordial conversation with alumni at the newly established German Centre. President of the German Alumni Association Xu Haiyang, director Zhang Shuni, researcher Xu Xiao of TU Munich, and senior alumnus Wu Bin introduced the situation of the German Alumni Association and the current situation of their respective development. Yang Zhenbin expressed his gratitude to the alumni for overcoming the difficulty of traffic paralysis after the snowstorm to attend the inauguration ceremony of the German Centre of the Alma Mater, and encouraged the alumni in Germany to continue to carry forward the spirit of pragmatism of Jiao Tong University people, and to achieve fruitful results in the development of their careers; and to gather more alumni in Germany, give full play to their role as a bridge, and help the construction of the German Centre of the Alma Mater. The next day, Yang Zhenbin travelled to the Huawei Research Institute in Munich, Germany, to visit Liu Yutao, Su Huisheba and other alumni, and met with Yang Xi, director of Huawei in Germany and other relevant persons in charge.
On 9 December, Yang Zhenbin and his delegation went to St John's College, Oxford University to communicate with alumni representatives from the Oxford area. Yang Zhenbin expressed his alma mater's miss and concern for the Oxford alumni, inquired about the alumni's study and life in Oxford, and introduced to the alumni the achievements of the alma mater in recent years in detail in terms of international reputation, scientific research achievements, talent cultivation, and employment of graduates. The alumni expressed their heartfelt pleasure and pride in the development and achievements of their alma mater. During the alumni exchange session, Yang Zhenbin cordially exchanged views with every alumnus and listened to their suggestions on the development of the alma mater. He fully affirmed the outstanding achievements of the alumni and stressed the need to continue to carry forward the school motto of "Thinking of the source when drinking water, loving the country and glorifying the university", and to work hard to make progress and show the elegance of the people of Jiaotong University to the world.
On December 10, Yang Zhenbin and his entourage attended the All-British Alumni Association Orientation Conference and Alumni Meeting, and introduced the development of the school and the achievements made in alumni work in recent years to the alumni. During the meeting, Yang Zhenbin responded to the alumni's concerns about the development of the university and personal employment one by one, and encouraged all alumni to make positive efforts, strive for advancement, enrich themselves continuously, and contribute to the progress of individuals and the country. He fully affirmed the important role of SJTU All-British Alumni Association in serving the alumni and uniting the strength of Jiao Tong University, and expected that the Association would continue to deepen the cooperation with the alma mater and provide more help to the alumni. During the welcome meeting, senior alumni shared their experiences with new alumni in the UK, which made them feel the warmth of "home".
The Alumni Association Office, International Exchange Office, Graduate School, Big Zero Bay Special Office, School of Design, Paris Institute of Engineer Excellence and other relevant units in charge accompanied the relevant activities.
