From October 13 to 15, the 12th International Conference on Renewable Power Generation (RPG 2023), jointly organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) from the United Kingdom, was held in Shanghai. RPG 2023 aims to promote the development of renewable power generation by facilitating the sharing of professional knowledge and technological exchange. The conference covers various aspects of renewable power generation, including wind power technology and systems, photovoltaic technology, solar thermal power generation, geothermal energy, fuel cells, wave power, tidal energy, biomass conversion for power generation, and more. Over 300 experts from around the world in the field of renewable power generation participated in the conference.

On the morning of the 14th, the opening ceremony guest speech session was hosted by Professor Yan Zheng from the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The President of IET, Bob Cryan, the Head of IET China, Paulo Lopes, and the Co-Chair of the conference, David Infield, delivered welcome speeches, expressing gratitude for the strong support provided by Shanghai Jiao Tong University for this conference.

On the morning of the 14th, the keynote report session was hosted by Associate Professor Xiaodong Zheng from the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The conference featured keynote speeches by renowned scholars from both China and abroad, including Academician Huang Zhen from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Dong Xinzhou from Tsinghua University, Professor Timothy Charles Green from Imperial College London, Professor Trond Kvamsdal from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Professor Andrew Kusiak from the University of Iowa, and others. During the award ceremony for the best papers at the RPG 2023 conference on the 14th, Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Vice President Zhang Zhaoguo engaged in in-depth discussions with IET President Bob Cryan. After the award ceremony, Zhang Zhaoguo took commemorative photos with the guests and the paper award winners.

During the RPG 2023 conference, Bob Cryan led a delegation from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on a special visit to Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The delegation toured the historical archives of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and relevant departments, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the university's historical evolution, outstanding contributions, and spiritual traditions. Throughout the visit, the delegation engaged in in-depth discussions with faculty and students from relevant departments at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The hosting of this conference has significantly enhanced academic exchanges and multidimensional cooperation between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Institution of Engineering and Technology from the United Kingdom.
