SJTU and Springer Nature Signed New Strategic Cooperation Agreement

On November 2, 2023, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Springer Nature signed a new strategic cooperation agreement at the Minhang Campus. Xi Lifeng, Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Arnout Jacobs, President of Springer Nature in Greater China, represented both parties in the signing ceremony. Cen Lichao, Director of Institutional and Corporate Collaboration for Springer Nature in Greater China, and other leaders of the group, as well as representatives from various units including the Graduate School, Institute of Science and Technology Development, Planning and Development Office, Library, and research teams from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, witnessed the signing of the agreement.

In his address, Xi Lifeng stated that since the initiation of strategic cooperation in 2017, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Springer Nature have comprehensively advanced in-depth exchanges across multiple dimensions, including academic exchanges, training and editing, international brand promotion, and the utilization of academic resources. The fruitful outcomes achieved have laid a solid foundation for the continued deepening of cooperation between the two parties.

Arnout Jacobs, President of Springer Nature in Greater China, expressed that the high-quality development of basic research in China plays a crucial role in the global scientific research field, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University has made significant contributions to this development. Springer Nature is proud to contribute to the outstanding achievements in teaching and research at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and will continue to provide assistance and support, working hand in hand with the university.

During the meeting, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions and exploration regarding the strategic cooperation model and future directions. Consensus was reached on matters pertaining to future collaboration.

Springer Nature Group is a globally leading academic, educational, and professional content publishing organization. Through a range of innovative platforms, products, and services, it provides high-quality content to various sectors. The new round of strategic cooperation with Springer Nature Group is expected to facilitate comprehensive collaboration in areas such as science popularization, research training, international conferences, and scientific foresight layout. Through deepening cooperation, both parties aim to achieve mutual development and win-win outcomes.

 

SJTU and Elsevier Signed New Strategic Cooperation Agreement

On November 16, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Elsevier held a new round of strategic cooperation agreement signing ceremony at the Minhang Campus. Xi Lifeng, member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Laura Hassink, Global President of Elsevier Journals, Li Lin, President of Elsevier Greater China, and other relevant leaders from both sides, as well as representatives from the Planning and Development Office, Key Construction Office, Institute of Science and Technology Development, Library, Journal Center, Publishing House, and others attended the ceremony. The signing ceremony was presided over by Liu Weidong.

Xi Lifeng stated that Elsevier and Shanghai Jiao Tong University have maintained a friendly collaboration over the years. Collaborative efforts in organizing lectures and academic forums, jointly publishing and launching journals, and analyzing various data resources have played a positive role in the high-quality development of the university's disciplines.

Laura Hassink expressed gratitude for the continuous support from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and acknowledged the many achievements resulting from their collaboration. For the new round of strategic cooperation, she hoped that both parties could explore new areas of collaboration while deepening the existing partnership.

Xi Lifeng and Laura Hassink signed the strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties. In the future, they plan to continue exploring deeper collaboration in areas such as research performance analysis and evaluation, the use of information solutions, and academic journal and book publishing.
