The school leaders met with the Vice President of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology

On July 9th, Thomas Hirth, Vice President of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany, visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). Yang Zhenbin, Secretary of the SJTU Party Committee, met with the delegation at the Minhang Campus. Xie Lifeng, Executive Vice President, and relevant department heads from SJTU also attended the meeting.

Yang Zhenbin warmly welcomed Thomas Hirth and his delegation. He emphasized that KIT is one of SJTU's most important partner universities in Germany. The two universities have a solid foundation of cooperation in joint talent cultivation and collaborative research among faculty. Yang expressed the hope to further strengthen cooperation between the two universities in areas such as innovation and entrepreneurship, biomedical sciences, and sustainable energy development, aiming to contribute jointly to global sustainable development efforts.

Thomas Hirth stated that Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is an important partner of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in China. Both universities excel in engineering and natural sciences, possessing inherent advantages for cooperation. He expressed confidence that in the future, SJTU and KIT will spark more collaborative initiatives and together make greater contributions to societal development.

During their visit, Thomas Hirth and his delegation also toured the Institute of Translational Medicine and engaged in discussions with representatives from the School of Energy and Power Engineering, Pujiang Institute of Future Technology, and the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange.

Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, located in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, is a member of TU9, the alliance of Germany's leading institutes of technology, and is among the first three universities designated as German Excellence Universities (Elite-Uni). It is also a member of the Helmholtz Association in Germany.
