Automotive Engineering Laboratory

The Automobile Engineering Laboratory of Shanghai Jiao Tong University was set up in 2009. Research Thrust Areas:

• Advanced automotive engine technology

• Alternative energy automobiles, clean and efficient automotive technologies 

• Automotive chassis technology and vehicle dynamics

• Automotive electronics and X-by-wire control technology

• Energy management and battery control technology

The automotive engineering laboratory mainly includes engine performance testing laboratory, engine durability test laboratory, hybrid test laboratory, battery system test laboratory, NVH test laboratory, transmission test laboratory, spray test laboratory, automotive electronics laboratory, etc.

The research conducted at the Automotive Engineering Laboratory covers various frontier topics in automotive engineering, including advanced engines, electronic control technique, electric vehicles and vehicle dynamics, etc. The  Automotive Engineering Laboratory also has a strong connection and long-term collaboration with domestic and international automotive companies, including General Motors, Shanghai Auto, SGMW, Jianghuai Automobile, Jeely Auto, etc.  Many collaborative technical centers were established. The Institute of Automotive Engineering is specially recognized in international collaboration and university-industry cooperation. Annual funding from industry exceeds 10 million RMB.  It has dedicated to the training of industry-oriented talents. Meanwhile, through this unique industry-university relationship, the Institute aims to meet the ongoing strategic requirements of national technology advancement and innovations in automotive engineering.
