On May 10th, Shanghai Jiao Tong University held the opening ceremony for the second phase of the training program aimed at enhancing the internationalization competence of managers. The program was jointly organized by the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the Human Resources Office, with the School of Continuing Education serving as a co-organizer. Nearly a hundred participants from various schools, departments, and administrative offices of the university gathered for the event. Vice President Xu Xuemin, Director Luo Peng of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Party Secretary Li Xinrong, Dean Hu Jie of the School of Continuing Education, Deputy Director Zhang Xin'an of the Human Resources Office, and other relevant leaders from the university attended the opening ceremony.
Xu Xuemin, on behalf of the university, first expressed warm congratulations on the commencement of the second phase of the Internationalization Capacity Enhancement Training Program. She stated that as one of the dimensions of Shanghai Jiao Tong University's positioning as a comprehensive, innovative, and international institution, internationalization is an inherent characteristic of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. With the opening of borders, she hopes that each college can proactively connect with overseas partner universities and actively promote global exchanges and cooperation at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Internally, it is important to establish a high-quality management and service team that can support and continuously drive the process of university internationalization. They should be familiar with international educational practices and regulations, understand the domestic and international situations and the university's internationalization policies, possess an international mindset and vision, and have the ability to engage in international communication and collaboration, in order to create a diverse and open international atmosphere for our foreign faculty and students.
Hu Jie expressed that Shanghai Jiao Tong University has always regarded talent as the "primary resource" driving the internationalization of our university. In particular, the development of management personnel is seen as a crucial lever in implementing the talent-oriented strategy. As the organizer of this training program, the School of Continuing Education will establish and improve a high-quality curriculum system for cultivating management personnel, stimulate the development vitality of the management team, and make every effort to build the brand of the university's management personnel internationalization capability enhancement program.
On behalf of the Human Resources Department, Zhang Xin'an extended a warm welcome to the teachers participating in this training program. He stated that the internationalization capability of management personnel serves as a strong support for accelerating the achievement of international talent development goals, ensuring the smooth implementation of internationalization work, and steadily improving the quality of internationalization. He encouraged the attendees to cherish this training opportunity by first strengthening their professional knowledge and enhancing their job skills. Secondly, he emphasized the importance of focusing on English proficiency to improve language skills. Lastly, he emphasized the need to enhance cross-cultural communication abilities and incorporate cultural differences into daily management and services.
Liu Jian from the International Affairs Division introduced the overall situation of the "Management Personnel Internationalization Capability Enhancement Program." She stated that in order to broaden the international perspectives of our university's management personnel and promote internationalization, the university has launched the "Management Personnel Internationalization Capability Enhancement" training program for all management staff. The program aims to accelerate the construction of a globally competitive management and service team through various specialized training activities. Since the launch of this program in 2021, a series of activities such as special lectures and thematic sharing sessions have been organized.

following the success of the first round of training, the International Affairs Division, in collaboration with the Human Resources Division and the Lifelong Education Institute, is launching the second round of the program. The aim is to fully utilize both internal and external resources and organize a series of lectures or salons to systematically and comprehensively enhance the internationalization capabilities of our university's management personnel in terms of perspectives, knowledge, skills, culture, business, and practical experience. This will contribute to improving the governance system of a modern university and effectively implementing the "Global SJTU" strategy in our university's internationalization development plan for the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
