Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) has announced the launch of its first undergraduate dual-degree program in engineering in collaboration with Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Starting in September 2026, the program will be open to undergraduate students currently enrolled at SJTU Global College (GC).

The program integrates the strengths of both universities’ engineering education systems and offers students the opportunity to study in Shanghai and Singapore—two leading innovation hubs in Asia. Through cross-cultural academic training and industry engagement, the initiative aims to cultivate engineering talent with strong technical foundations and a global outlook.

Designed for high-achieving students, it enables participants to complete their studies within a four-year framework while receiving systematic training at two top engineering institutions in Asia. Upon fulfilling all academic requirements, students will be awarded a Bachelor of Engineering degree from both SJTU and NTU.

The curriculum combines structured coursework with practical components to enhance students’ interdisciplinary capabilities, cross-cultural competence, and professional readiness. As part of the program, students are required to complete a ten-week internship in engineering or manufacturing sectors, gaining hands-on experience and expanding their international professional networks.

By leveraging the complementary strengths of Shanghai and Singapore, the program provides students with access to diverse academic and industrial resources. Shanghai serves as a major center for technological innovation and advanced manufacturing, while Singapore is recognized for its global business environment and strong research ecosystem. Graduates are expected to benefit from enhanced career opportunities in emerging fields such as green energy, artificial intelligence, robotics, semiconductors, and intelligent manufacturing.
