On the afternoon of September 3rd, Zhao Jianjun, Chairman of TP-Link Technologies Co., Ltd., a graduate of the Class of 1992 of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and a member of the SJTU Board of Trustees, donated another 90 million yuan to support the Development Fund of the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering and establish the TP-Link Research Fund. The event was attended by Zhao Jianjun, his wife Jin Hong, Secretary of the SJTU Party Committee Yang Zhenbin, member of the Standing Committee of the SJTU Party Committee and Vice President of SJTU Zhang Ansheng, Secretary of the Party Committee of the SJTU School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering (SEIEE) Su Yuezeng and its Dean Guan Xinping, Head of the Development Communication Division of the SEIEE and Secretary-General of the Education Development Foundation Cheng Jiaojie, as well as over 20 SJTU alumni such as Huang Yuangeng, Gu Lingbo, Yang Zhenyu, Dong Zengping, Sha Hongzhi, Wang Yiming that were involved in the SEIEE alumni development initiative. Zhang Ansheng signed the donation agreement with Zhao Jianjun, and on behalf of SJTU, Yang Zhenbin presented the donation certificate and the letter of appreciation to Zhao Jianjun. The event was facilitated by Zhang Ansheng.

Su Yuezeng and Guan Xinping said on behalf of SEIEE that with this donation, the college would actively explore new paths for industrial and academic integration, spark enthusiasm for innovation and encourage more teachers to aim high and reach greater goals.

Zhao Jianjun said that engineering talent development and scientific research should be aligned with what is needed for cutting-edge technologies. He expected to use joint postgraduate development programmes and R&D to better integrate academic disciplines with industrial development to help make even greater progress in developing academic disciplines at SJTU and make the academic discipline of communication a more remarkable and distinctive SJTU brand.

Yang Zhenbin said that Zhao Jianjun, as an outstanding alumnus of SJTU, has long paid attention to the development of education at his alma mater, and that the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship that he demonstrated and his giving back to his alma mater were a precious spiritual wealth that would help develop the education of SJTU and foster the students to be diligent, down-to-earth, fearless of danger and difficulty, aware of giving back to the alma mater, patriotic and proud of the alma mater. He stressed the need to join hands with more outstanding alumni and those who care about education to turn SJTU into one of the top universities in the world.

This is another generous donation that Zhao Jianjun made to his alma mater following his donation that helped establish a campus culture fund and supported the projects of constructing the Wenbo Building and Huiyuan.
