Shanghai Jiao Tong University President Ding Kuiling and Vice President Liu Weidong met with a delegation led by Roberto Medronho, President of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on April 3 at the Minhang Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Ding Kuiling warmly welcomed Roberto Medronho and his delegation, providing a brief overview of Shanghai Jiao Tong University's history and development. He emphasized the university's comprehensive, innovative, and international nature, expressing eagerness to expand cooperation with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in areas such as student exchanges, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Roberto Medronho highlighted the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro as the largest university in the Brazilian federal system, offering a wide range of disciplines including STEM, arts, humanities, business, and medicine. He noted the university's science and technology park as an effective platform for technology transfer and expressed interest in collaborating with Shanghai Jiao Tong University's "Da Linghao Bay."

Both parties anticipate future collaboration in joint degree programs, summer projects, research internships, student exchanges, and technology transfer, aiming to deepen the relationship between the two universities and create a brighter future.

In addition, the delegation visited the "Da Linghao Bay" Science and Technology Innovation Center for observation and investigation. Representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the "Da Linghao Bay" were present at the meeting.

The meeting signifies a significant step forward in international cooperation and exchange between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration between the two institutions.
