On the afternoon of 31st January, SJTU President Ding Kui Ling met with visiting University of Macau (UM) President Sung Wing Wah, Vice President Ge Wei, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Shen Han Ming, and Senior Executive Assistant of Global Affairs Shen Qian at the University's Minhang Campus. Mr Xu Xuemin, Vice President of SJTU, accompanied the delegation to the meeting.

Mr Ding Quiling warmly welcomed the visit of the University of Macau. Ding Quiling introduced the basic situation of the University in terms of science and technology innovation, discipline development, talent attraction and internationalisation. He hoped that the two universities could continue to carry out practical cooperation in areas of mutual interest, taking into account the characteristics of their respective strategic development.

Song Yonghua expressed his gratitude to the two universities for their exchanges and co-operation over the years as well as their mutual support. He introduced the unique advantages of the University of Macau as a "special university with special mission, special care and characteristics", and expressed his hope that the cooperation with SJTU could be further strengthened and expanded. Xu Xuemin and the delegation had in-depth exchanges on medical education, the construction of the College, the development of the "big ocean, big health, big information" disciplines, the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and the joint cultivation of talents.

Previously, the President of the University of Macau, Mr Song Yonghua, and his delegation also visited the Faculty of Medicine of the University. Fan Xianqun, Vice President of the University and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, met with the delegation.
